The purpose is to utilize available imagery from multiple reconnaissance platforms taken from the Vietnam War in an effort to locate aircraft crash sites of American MIA pilots and aviators, as well as mass graves of former combatants.
How this will be done, Project SITREP will train volunteers to utilize high tech equipment to review and capture imagery for further analysis by trained professionals.
Created as a partnership project between Healing Through History and Mission: POW-MIA, the primary goal of Project: S.I.T.R.E.P. is to produce geospatial reports utilizing period strategic and tactical imagery from a variety of reconnaissance platforms.
These reports will be used to assist families of missing and unaccounted for combatants from the Vietnam War.
